When the daily pullback is not a daily pullback
How to tell a genuine daily retracement from noise that only looks orderly on a lower frame.
A common error in multi-timeframe chart reading is promoting a lower-frame bounce into a “daily pullback” because the candles look neat on the 15-minute screen.
Checks we teach
- Did a daily candle actually close back into the prior swing territory?
- Is the bounce occurring inside a weekly decision zone, or in the middle of nowhere?
- Would you still call it a pullback if the lower frame were hidden?
If the answer to the last question is no, treat the move as intraday noise until the daily chart confirms.
Classroom exercise
We print the daily without the lower frame, mark candidate pullbacks, then reveal the intraday chart. Traders are often surprised how many “perfect” lower-frame flags never earned a daily label.
